    Misago Project

We are on our way to 0.3 release which aims to add content reports and forum search to Misago's feature base.

But what makes this release really special is that with it Misago will reach MVP stage.

Thats right, starting with 0.3 release Misago will become Minimum viable product which basically means Misago will implement all features that are expected from internet forum to provide to its users.

Having said that, there are still things I would like to see done before one should consider Misago for "live" community. For that reason milestone 0.6 has been labeled MVP. The plan is to hold on for few months once we'll get to 0.6 and spend that time polishing what we've got so far in order to make Misago ready for live communities.

We are now running early dev code of Misago 0.3. Reports and Search is not yet implemented, but some fixes and improvements are.

Say hello to reporting contents and redesigned user menu, two things 0.3 release brings to Misago!

    Reporting threads

One of must-haves on every forum is ability for users to quickly and painlessly bring up offending threads to moderators attention. In Misago all user has to do to do this is to click "Report" button thats added to every post. And thats it, reported post will appear on list of reported content immediately.

Reports are ordered by their importance starting from open reports (always displayed on top) trough resolved reports (moderator took action) to bogus reports (moderator decided there was no reason to take action against reported post).

One more thing... do you recognise threads list? Reports are de-facto special threads that are started by Misago in defined forum when user reports post. Example thread looks like this:

Its pretty much standard thread, but with few small differences. Original post has extra border that differs it from others and has two buttons in place where voting usually is located. Also this post is displayed on top of every page, so if discussion about action that should be taken becomes long, you dont have to keep jumping back and forth to check out original report.

...and because this is thread, in future it will be possible for moderators to upload attachments with screencaps, logs and other things thay may help in making final decision on report.

    Redesigned User Menu

This one is no biggie, but it brings some cool possibilities to Misago. As you have propably noticed, old user menu has given its place to new, compact one. This change was made for three reasons. To reduce clutter in navbar, to make links that need your attention more stand out and to give forum owners more space for installed plugins.

The menu will sit where it is just in case you'll need it. Just click on it and its at your service. Good news is that if there's anything that you should give attention to, it will be displayed right next to your name so you don't have to check it just to be sure you are not missing anything.

And if you don't want JS, there's still old menu right there that will be displayed in its stead.

That's it. Hopefully next few days will finally bring search function to Misago! Hold your breaths and stay tuned for more news!
