What about redactor ? Xenforo uses it.
My favourite part of using it is ... directly pasting images from the clipboard :)

Redactor is pretty cool but it's also propertiary so it's impossible to use it with Misago.
Hallo is best candidate once project hits 0.8 which is when final UI will be developed.
I didn't know that. I thought it was Open Source !
I see it is $399 for an OEM lic.

Can I use Redactor in my project, which is published under GPL, MIT, BSD, or other open-source/copyleft license?
Yes, go ahead! You just need to purchase the OEM license. No additional fees will be applied and there are no special terms or conditions, until Redactor is properly "linked" in your software.
However, keep in mind that Redactor is not an open-source product. It is proprietary commercial copyrighted software and we do not allow it's distribution under any open-source licenses. Think about Redactor as if it was a paid proprietary extension for your project.
OEM license is not compatibile with Open Source licenses.
R Markdown is free and looks good. www.rstudio.com/ide/docs/r_markdown
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like R Markdown is more like MD dialect their "RStudio" editor uses, not editor on its own?
Yep, it's an enhanced Markdown that RStudio uses. I mentioned it because I thought it has features that can be adapted for use here.
No distribution = not compatibile with OS license. Otherwhise everything is compatibile with everything as long as you don't distribute it. :sunglasses:
In case you didn't notice, Misago uses Markdown for formatting messages from day one. Also, markdown is formatting language and Hello is editor for composing messages in Markdown.
The face in your avatar describes my reaction when I saw your reply. Sorry!
Moved to other forum as its not really development discussion.
