I am at a bit of a loss as to how to setup email for Misago
I would like to use Gmail (at least for a demo) but
I dont find any guidance on how to add applications to a Google account to send mails.
(I have some applications using my google account(s) but this was setup from within the applications)
I think I need help to configuring Misago to use the Gmail account.
Any help much appreciated.

You will have to use either Application passwords dialog or Less secure passwords dialog to obtain credentials for Misago to use your Gmail box.
If you'll use first one, you will have to select "Mail" for app and "Other" for device. This will give you password that you should enter in Misago configuration to send email via your GMail box.
