Author has not been updated for a long time on github. Is there plan for the next version?

What do you mean by "long time"? My commit activity on Misago looks pretty regular. ;)
If you want to track progress on next version, you can have a look at milestone on Github. According to the features checklist I'm nearing the completion of thread view, which is focal point for most features in Misago, and thus took a great deal of effort to complete.
I'll be writing dev update once I wrap up work on it, in which I'll give status update on progress and plans for next weeks.
