I tried my best with my current theme on my forum but wished there were documents on how to properly do themes/styles. Same with making plugins too.

    Theme I made:

There are some guides for style and plugin dev posted in the development category, but proper guides are few years away as things are still being introduced and changed.

For plugins, there is a plugin system, but there are very few plugin hooks at the moment. Misago 0.40 brings this number up to ~160 and adds docs for them, but thats still six months away sadly.

And there's new style system together with a style rewrite coming sometime in 2026 that will make styles easier to develop (bringing SASS support to styles, default style rewrite for modern bootstrap).

Lastly, Misago is built with Django, so plugin authors should be familiar with it.

Oh okay, I must have overlooked it. I think my theme looks fine but definitely hoping someday down the line we can get more plugins and themes made and even better/more support and docs on how it all works alongside what coding to use etc.

I hope so too, but this is the chicken and the egg problem currently with the tiny community of Misago's users. But hopefully I'll get the project up to the standard that will attract more people.

I think overall my theme looks decent and just made one big old CSS file called sitesname.css and didn't do like navbar.css etc and it seems it works ok that way too. I assume that this is how it was designed and not to slap your CSS code all in one css file?

Do what works for you. You can even clone Misago from github, modify less files locally, build custom style.css and upload it in Admin panel.

And there's also some early planning of new styles system that should happen in a future...

My way seems to work fine as I just added another theme and it looks decent.
