Looking for a forum solution

I'm webdeveloper by trade and my stack of choice is Django on the backend and React.js in the frontend. Misago is my passion project, and I'm obsessively passionate about it, developing it continously for eight years now, (although Github disagrees with me here ;))

Number of developers working actively on the project may be an issue (its just me with occasional contributions by others from time to time), but I'll say its pretty standard for OS projects without corporate backing, full-time devs or good promotion, and I think my contributions graph is proof enough that Misago's development over the years was regular and well sustained: github.com/rafalp/Misago/graphs/contributors

As for this being passion project, I want to make it clear that I am dead serious about it. Some people are cooking cakes, others are photographing nature, and I am constantly working on Misago making it better and better, adding new things, fixing bugs, helping people out answering questions here and polishing out the rough edges based on feedback I'm receiving.

As for 2022, thats 4 years from now. I don't have roadmap for that far out, but I'm sure there will be things then to make better in Misago ;)

I don't have reliable analytics here, and from what I've gathered people are deleting the powered by misago backlink from their sites so search console doesn't help either, but there seems to be ~10 forums around, mostly gaming ones.

I'm getting this question a lot, and while this depends heavily on the existing site, I would say 2-3 days is safe estimate to integrate Misago into existing Django project, if you know how django.contrib.auth works.

I would love to eventually write proper guides for different things, but there's always bigger fish to fry (but being too focused on writing code and neglecting meta is usual for projects that lack teams). 😖Maybe after 0.17 ships this weekend I'll sit down and rethink how I can split time between code and meta things more effectively.

Googling for "powered by misago" or "most active posters from last 30 days" turns some of them up. ;)

If you are already using a Django stack, I'd say Misago is hands down the best choice if you want something modern.
I'm using Misago for three different gaming communities, but those are not currently visible to the public.

We simply extended our and Misago's user model creating a link between our users and Misago's users, disabled Misago registration (in admincp) and leaving the user creation to our custom apps. If you want to customize the looks other than background image, logo and such... that will probably take the majority of a developers time.

You don't receive email for every new post in subscribed thread, only for first unread post. That way Misago is not spamming people with notifications because you've subscribed to popular thread.

It can't be changed, its important throttling mechanic.

And trust me, no, you users don't want that ;) I've ran some hyperactive communities in past, it was always pain point and never something general consensus wanted.

That seems to be the consensus in my communities as well.
