From both a usability and functional point of view Misago has everything a modern discussion forum should have: A wickedly awesome and simple UI, subtle gamification through like/dislike actions, karma collection, and a kickass notification system with email subscription and the ability to follow users. All of this on top of the good ol' battle-tested category/discussion/comment model.
This project of yours has so much potential and I can't wait to start writing themes and plugins for this once an extension system is in place - if it already is, I've missed this in the source.
