December update

With new month comes time for new dev update.

Lets get most obivious of the way: it's very unlikely for Misago 0.6 release to happen this year. There simply too many things to get done for such deadline to be reachable.

There are three "key" features left to do and plenty smaller ones that are waiting for those before it will be viable to work on them. Those features are:

• Private threads
• Reports
• Search

Once those biggies are in, I'll be able to focus on getting smaller ones done:

• Finishing message parser
• Attachments
• Polls
• Mentions
• Editor
• Subscriptions
• Threads and posts lists at user profiles
• Edits history
• Likes

And when those features are finally in, there will be three more things to get done before release:

• updater from 0.5
• python 3 support
• new default theme that will be responsive, minimal and easy to override with customizations

So thats the plan for coming months. In meantime 0.5 will be getting maintenance updates as need arises.

Private threads issue has been closed!

Misago 0.6 bring many improvements to way private threads are started as well as how thread owners and moderators manage thread participants.

For starters, new form for starting private threads uses suggestions, making it easier to add thread participants. Its also ajax based which means in future it may become possible to start private threads from normal thread view.

Participants list is now available via AJAX request, making it easy to implement in different parts of UI:

Finally sidebar with participants has been replaced by modal. This modal allows thread owner to pass ownership to other participant, kick participant from private thread, and add new participants to thread. Its completly dynamic, with all UI being handled by javascript.
